I have always had an eye for detail and have been known to proofread menus at restaurants.
I put this ability to good use while completing my PhD, serving for several years as copy editor and proofreader on the Annual of the British School at Athens, an academic journal. This involved not only rounding up stray commas and misplaced apostrophes, but also ensuring the house style was adhered to and that the articles flowed smoothly from introduction to bibliography.
I have provided proofreading services to undergraduate and graduate students from around the world, helping them to submit perfectly polished prose (and I’ve even dabbled a bit in poetry!). I also have several years of experience in reading grant applications for a funding organisation. As an American who has lived in the UK for over a decade, I can focus on either American or British English – just let me know your preference.
